Gynophobia is not classified as a mental illness by the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) although is a type of anxiety disoder.

Treatment for gynophobia may involve therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, to help individuals overcome their fear and manage their symptoms.
